One cold night at about 10pm, I woke up to an excruciating sickle cell crisis pain. "Ugh!!! Not again" I thought in my mind. No NHS no SSI. This is Africa where only a select few and the elites can have access to good, functional health care services. And these they can only find outside the shores of Africa. Leaving the largest concentration of people living with sickle cell disorder to their own fate. I only muttered under my breath partly because of the pain and then because of the disappointment "Dear Lord, please help me" Lo and behold, I received a message from Lee April. She took a lot of her time just listening quietly as I vented. She was still putting herself in my shoes, The empathy in her voice was palpable as she kept saying she's done nothing yet. One of the few People I know who genuinely give me hope that angels definitely walk amongst us.
